The ridiculous birthday cake

I make a lot of cakes. I don't post very many of them. Only the ones that I am particularly proud of, or had an extra good time making. Every June on the second weekend you can find me making 3 or 4 birthday cakes. I make them for a friend, another friends 2 kids, and my niece Janae whose birthdays all fall during that week. This year Janae couldn't settle on an idea, but found a cake on pinterest that she thought was cute. Theirs was only 6 layers, but we couldn't do that. I came up with the CRAZY idea that I should make it 16 layers in honor of Janaes 16th birthday.  It was not pretty, but amazing because of its sheer magnitude. And the chocolate frosting was so yummy. If I say so myself. What do u think?

Fun day for Heidi

My friend, Inger, asked me to help her with desserts for her daughters birthday party. Her theme was Alice in Wonderland. It was supposed to have a colorful eclectic feel to it. I made a rabbit hole cake, 24 mini cupcakes, and 1 1/2 dozen sugar cookies. It was really fun to make all the fondant decorations. She's got better pictures because she had them all sitting on a cute cake stand. Mine are sitting on the kitchen counter. Here's what I've got.
