Fun day for Heidi

My friend, Inger, asked me to help her with desserts for her daughters birthday party. Her theme was Alice in Wonderland. It was supposed to have a colorful eclectic feel to it. I made a rabbit hole cake, 24 mini cupcakes, and 1 1/2 dozen sugar cookies. It was really fun to make all the fondant decorations. She's got better pictures because she had them all sitting on a cute cake stand. Mine are sitting on the kitchen counter. Here's what I've got.

Celebrating Mediocrity

Today was a fun day. I got to spend the morning celebrating my son, Seth's graduation from pre-school. He unfortunately will be going to pre-school again next year so this graduation doesn't really count. Does it? He was really cute, and in true Seth fashion didn't say one word the whole time, barely sang the songs, ate a lot if treats after the program, and wouldn't let me take a picture of him with his teacher. He spent a whole year with the woman and wouldn't ask her to take a picture with him. Hopefully another year of pre-school will get him out of his shell a little, no, a lot more. He's a sweet and very intelligent kid and it was fun celebrating his special, yet mediocre, day.

Bring on summer!

Warmer weather hair

You may think because of the title of this post that I am going to advertise the fact that I buzzed all the boys heads for warmer weather. This is not the case. My other favorite warmer weather hair is from the trampoline, and it doesn't work with buzzed hair. Isn't Seth's hair classic?

Favorite Saturday activity

Lots of families showed up to the Centerville Home Depot on Saturday for their kids project. We were among the crowd. This has become one of Adam's favorite things to do lately. He has always loved crafts, and I love these because it requires no planning or clean up on my part. It's a win, win! I drag all the other boys in too and it becomes a win, win, win for me! This month they built a birdhouse. They all loved painting their houses and making them their own special creations. Now it just needs it to stop snowing so we can hang them up and actually feed some birds:)

Boy or Girl?

When we got pregnant with this baby we decided it would be fun not to find out the gender of the baby. The unreasonable theory was that we found out with all the others and they were boys so maybe if we didn't find out it would be a girl. Not that we were hoping for a girl, but you never know. We told the doctor that we didn't want to know this time. The doctor didn't tell the ultrasound tech so when I went in for my ultrasound at 21 weeks she told me what the baby was. Ooooops! Well, we decided to tell my family last night by making a cake the color of the gender and cut into it to reveal the babies gender. I am kicking myself for not recording the event. I couldn't believe how excited and giddy my mom and sisters were. They wanted to have dessert before dinner. When I told them no they wanted dessert right after dinner when we normally wait. Anyway, it was fun and here are the results for all the world to see. The Horsley's are expecting a....

Who's excited for spring?

I hate talking about weather. It's just so small talky. However, I must say, this winter has been cold, super snowy, and pure drudgery. My kids have eaten up the last couple of warmer days. Especially Josh has wanted to "put on shoes", and "outside football" with the boys. I hope you get your wish buddy! Spring is a coming!
